Expectations

BORA Teeth Whitening safely removes stains caused by foods, beverages, tobacco, medicine, and aging. For the ultimate whitening effect on your teeth, you have the option to perform up to 3 whitening sessions at the time of your appointment. When whitening, you may feel a slight tingling. BORA products will not damage existing dental work. BORA products will remove stains from existing dental work but will not whiten them beyond their original color. White spots may appear more prevalent directly after whitening, but the contrast will lessen within 24 hours.

Whitening results cannot be guaranteed and will vary depending on your age, lifestyle, genetics and the initial color and condition of your teeth. Everyone's teeth respond differently and have their own natural "stop" point for whitening results. Not all stains can be addressed by teeth whitening. Teeth that have suffered trauma from the inside, have been affected fluorosis and those with inorganic stains may not be affected by whitening at all. You should check with your dentist to find out if the teeth whitening process you choose will be effective before you book an appointment or make a purchase.

Is BORA Teeth Whitening for everyone?

BORA whitening provides great results for anyone who wants whiter, brighter teeth. This includes people with teeth that have been stained by tobacco, foods, beverages, and discoloration due to age. Although tetracycline and fluoride staining can not be removed completely, we typically see great results with this type of staining.

How white will my teeth get?

Everyone's teeth will respond differently. The average whitening is 5-14 shades whiter. You will leave with your teeth the whitest they can naturally go. Lifestyle and genetics are a big factor when it comes to teeth whitening. For the ultimate whitening effect, you may choose up to three 20 minute applications in a single whitening session. We always recommend a 4-6 month touch-up to take your teeth to the next level of white!

How long will the whitening last?

This varies from person to person and depends on your diet and oral hygiene. Maintenance is KEY! Teeth whitening is not a permanent fix and how long results will last will vary depending on your age, genetics and lifestyle. Smoking and consuming food/drink that contains tannins - such as red wine, coffee and oranges – can cause stains to return quicker. We recommend laser maintenance sessions every 4-6 months and for extended long term results, you may also choose to use the BORA Home Maintenance Kit and/or Touch-up Pen for maintenance.

Is the procedure safe?

Yes, our whitening gel formulation is an organic plant- and mineral-based product with built in enamel building qualities. Scientific research has shown that the active ingredients in the gels we use are safe and effective. The whitening equipment is FDA approved and has been used throughout the dental and cosmetic community for years. Our gel does not change or damage the structure of the teeth; it merely lifts and removes the stains, making your teeth whiter. Our whitening gels are safe for everyone, including kids and pregnant and nursing mamas.

Will the gel whiten fillings, veneers or crowns?

Foreign material like dental veneers, bonding/composite or any non-natural tooth restoration can only be whitened back to their original shade. We cannot whiten them beyond the original color of the material used at the time of placement. Our whitening products will not damage existing dental work.

Will my teeth feel sensitive?

Most clients experience no sensitivity, however everyone's sensitivity level varies. A small percentage may feel sensitivity but it is typically minor and gone within 24 hours. We do offer solutions for those that are concerned about sensitivity. If you have sensitive teeth, you can purchase our Desensitizing Gel for $15.00 to assist with any sensitivity while while adding a boost of minerals in your teeth. This will strengthen your enamel.

What should I be aware of after the procedure?

After a teeth whitening treatment, the pores of your enamel are open and this makes them extra vulnerable to any stains which can reverse a lot of the whitening benefit from your treatment. Follow the White Diet for 24 hours after a teeth whitening treatment. NO- coffee, tea, soda, cool-aid, red wine, tomato sauce, red meat, dark colored vegetable, or anything with heavy color. Once the pores close, which usually happens after 24 hours after the procedure, you can resume your normal habits. An easy rule to remember is anything that would stain white fabric; Avoid it!
